How to Increase Your Chances of Getting Asked to Dance

This tip is in response to a question Jill asked on our youtube channel:

What can a woman do to increase her chances of being asked to dance?

Now even though this question was geared towards follows, it applies equally to both men and women. Enjoy!

How to Get More Dances

Of course, you can ask someone to dance and ensure you look approachable, but let’s go a little deeper.

Take care of your partner as best as you can

It doesn’t matter how good you look or how skilled you are, if you don’t take care of your partners they won’t want to dance with you again.

Be pleasant and know what you’re doing (be able to social dance). If you feel good to your partner, they will ask you again. If others see you dancing and having an enjoyable time with your partner they’ll notice that. They’ll also notice if you know what you’re doing or not.

But it’s always the younger more attractive girls that get asked to dance!

Sure, we won’t deny that. But what about repeat dances? If a lead dances with a lady he finds attractive but then doesn’t enjoy the dance the chances of him asking her again are low.

It doesn’t matter if you’re beginner, intermediate or advanced, if you were a pleasure to dance with leads will ask you again!

There’s no magic pill

Take the time to learn (find a good instructor) and get out there. Be sociable, be approachable and don’t hesitate to ask others to dance, especially if you’re new to a community.
