Testimonial: I worked through the unit on body movement (yes, there's an entire unit that guides you through building it up, piece-by-piece.) and practiced my basic a ton like they suggest. Aside from that, I've only made it through the “Absolute Beginner” unit of partner work. I have no partner to train with. Social dances are my partnered practice. At the “Latin Night” last night, one of the best follows in the room enjoyed our dance so much she gave me a huge hug afterward. [Results may vary.]
Review: The Dance Dojo's Salsa program (combined with going to social dances) is far and away the most economical way to build up your skill at dancing salsa. The only more effective method would be private lessons that probably cost the price of the entire program in just a couple months. Sure, there are all kinds of videos on YouTube that show moves, but Dance Dojo has far more, and the depth of technique taught is almost always superior. But the program is so much more than a bunch of moves. Even those are helpfully arranged progressively. Beyond moves, the program is amazingly holistic, with everything from units on musicality, shines, tips for social dancing, and even a general unit on setting and pursuing goals. If you want to be a better salsa dancer, this program needs to be your cornerstone.
